Default Towing with a X-type???

Hello all,
My question is has anyone seen a trailer hitch for these cars and whether or not you can tow anything with a trailer and these cars? I am pondering jet ski's and I figured that the 3.0 could pull it if a 6-cylinder full size truck can pull a trailer. Plus with the added bonus of the all-wheel drive I figured it'd be impossible to end up slipping back into the water. Any help is appreciated!!!

P.S. my uncle has a 2001 taurus with the dohc 24 valve 3.0 and he has a hitch and has pulled well over 1,500 pounds with it safely. Jet skis weigh about 1,100 combined weight for two plus trailer weight.

I'll go check in the manual right now, I did found however that the maximum towing capacity for the car is 2,090 lbs. The total combined weight for the jet skis would be around 12-1400 lbs. I just haven't been able to find a place that has a hitch to mount to the car.

Hiya Aquill,
over here owning a Jaguar has a stigma of being an old mans car........(probly cos u need to bean old man before you can afford to buy one), an estate version makes it even worse, you know the thing - I want something comfortable and large enough for the family and the dogs etc etc. The final straw is adding a tow bar - usually so that people can tow a CARAVAN or trailer home..........might as well curl up n die I say.
However, I spose since ur gonna be haulin jet skis it might not be too bad, still retain some street cred, but, overall I'd still say dont e
waste the look of your car by addinga tow bar.........christ, buy another run around and fit a tow bar to that..lol

Heya Jim,
I've got an 01' escape xls but its a 4-banger with stick. Its only front wheel drive. I don't know if it would pull it but I'll check into both of them before I make a decision on slapping one up on the jag. The escape would give me alot more room for the other stuff inside of it but I'd be scared of backing her down in there and end up jet skiing with the escape and not just the jet ski's!!!

Hey Aquill,
if your escape can do the job great, just wouldn't wanna see you waste your sexy lookin ride by addin a tow bar..........jet skis are ace by the way. How much fun are they - I tried them a few times when on holiday in Tenerfie and Portugal, an hour just wasn't long enuff though.

Thanks nineball. Hey jim I've actually only ridden them for about that long too and I havn't even ridden on a lake yet! I rode on a river in the middle upper part of michigan. Not to mention it was about 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit and 8:30 in the morning! I tell you what though even though I had no wet suit just regular clothes on that were soaked and wet man was it fun! I had a crotch rocket but sold it near October and want something else for fun. I'm stuck between another rocket or a pair of pwc's (personal watercraft.) I can get two right around 2000 and newer with a trailer for the cost of even a 600cc bike. Not to mention with the baby I have on the way (by January 17th) the pwc's I'd be able to use more than the rocket. Although I would much rather have a rocket by far than pwc but with a baby and what not this way we can both have fun while she's riding her own pwc! And I've been finding alot of 3 seater pwc's that have turbochargers and superchargers that could ride 2 people and pull a person on tube, board, or person riding barefoot! The pwc's just make better sense right now!

Hi Aquill,
pwc's / jet skis, whatever you wanna call them are brill, but when I was on them in the sea at Portugal, I caught one helluva wave, it was like wayyyyy up in the air, which was great till I landed. I swear I thought I broke my back...lol.dint stop me though. What about quad bikes for the hills an beaches n stuff? They can be so much fun too.
Congrats on the baby to bebud...won't be long now!....I got an 11 year old ( signed last year for Celtic football club - early days but really talented) a 14 year old ( rugby player - like American football but - without all the padding......lol ) a 15 year old stepson also a footballer, and a 20 year old stepdaughter.......so I know about wanting your fun an toys etc, but having to watch the cost
If I remember rightly bud, dint you have an issue with the lights on your X same as the rest of us? If so I am about to post on this topic......check it out.

Cheers

Jim C

My issue was garbage bulbs that I was trying to upgrade to! The sylvania silverstar bulbs are garbage in my jag for some reason. Actually the silverstars I put in the fogs are awesome but in the regular headlight wouldn't stay burning rather they burn out! I did have an issue back when I bought the car but the dealer fixed em!

Hey there black,
How much did it cost from the dealer? You only tow one or two? Would you recommend towing 2? And could I remove it if I wanted too? Any pics?
