TRANSFER CASE
Would like to know if the transfer case died while driving, can the car be used as a front wheel drive only? or does error code shut the engine down?
Changed the oil in case, as usual not much left. Started to make a bit of noise after the change might have swished up junk from bottom of case.

In most cases the transfercase fails catastrophically and explodes like a hand grenade scattering parts on the roadway. Unfortunately the link shaft that runs to the right front axle shaft passes through the transfercase and the damage to the case usually damages the link shaft and therefore no drive at all.
