Default Transfer Case saga

To make a long story short.....My 05 x type was making an annoying noise when driving for some time, especially at speeds 20 mph an up. Brought it to a Jag dealer and they said it was the transfer case. I decided to have them do it, and got a call a day later that it WASN'T the transfer case. In the end it just ended up being the right rear wheel bearing. Thank god they didn't do any work. Purchased the bearing/hub for 200.00 and did it myself. Car drives and sounds great.

Nice, that had to be quite a relief. I have an '05 as well and just recently had the right front wheel bearing replaced when I noticed a slight whine. Mine has 102K on it, so I guess minor things like that come with the territory as it ages, especially driving in a climate like Wisconsin with all the snow, salt and rough roads.

Great, but now you should replace your TC fluid to make sure that it doesn't fail on you...
