Default Trigger wire on HID relay?

I purchased my Maxlux HID kit and a TGP relay. The TGP relay has a brown and green wire than connect to one of the headlights to act as a trigger. I am trying to figure out which color is the trigger wire and which is the ground? On my Jag I have a yellow and brown wire. From what I can tell, the yellow is hot and the brown is ground. Do I connect the yellow wire from the Jag to the green or brown on the relay?

rwcmick, this is what I will tell you, the car is already wired up to power the headlights off of a relay. So, no need to wire up a separate relay for your new HID headlights unless you bought some 50W units. Then that is a different story.

As for wiring up the relay (if you use it), I would simply wire the brown wire to one side of the switch side of the relay and then the yellow wire to the other side of the switch side of the relay. From there, you have to run a wire to the battery post (with an inline fuse in it rated for atleast 30 amps). Then you can split out the last post to power both of the ballasts.

Thanks. I have one more question. The connectors from the Maxlux kit are black and blue. I presume the black is ground and the blue is positive? I'll have to file down one of these spade connectors to fit the brown female connector.

rwcmick, that is a safe assumption to make, but I would say to look at the directions and verify that. HID lights are kinda like LEDs in that they are polarity sensitive. You wire them up backwards and they will not work at all.

Thanks. FYI the black wire is - and the blue wire is +. I was able to easily get the driver's side connected. The passenger side required the wife's assistance. All in all a very worthwhile project!
