Nice little touch that adds to it's Britishness.

Please forgive me bringing up an old thread. Cambo, can you tell me what that organge thing is under the umbrella? And, I'm about to purchase the umbrella holder, was the install as easy as I've read? Does it fit into pre-existing holes? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Why the apology? I posted this in case people were interested...

There are pre-drilled holes in the metal ribs of the boot lid, but it's a little tricky to punch the holes in the liner in exactly the right place. I used a sewing pin to first find the right spot, and then pushed a...don't remember now, philips head screwdriver? or a small sharp file? whatever...through the felt lining. You really need to get the holes in the right spot.

The orange thing is a warning triangle, all cars on continental Europe need to have one...

As you can see, if you break down or stop on the side of the road, then you put the triangle out....not that Jags ever break down...

Ha, nooooo they never break down. I've driven over there a few times (as a tourist) and didn't know that, nice to learn something new. I'm taking the leap, will post some pics in a new thread when completed. Thanks again, Cambo. I appreciate your help. Cheers.

.............and in Spain, need to have two warning triangles. One to go ahead of the the vehicle and one behind in the event of breakdown.

Then there's the fluorescent waistcoat/jacket you must put on before getting out of the vehicle. European bureaucracy never stops!

Just installed my umbrella holder...what a pain in the ****! Took about an hour. I did it pretty much how you recommended, Cambo, except I decided to take out the four bottom plastic boot liner plug things. That allowed me to visually see the little holes under the liner.

Initially, I tried using a push pin to find the holes for the umbrella holder, but after about 30 minutes and zero results decided I to change my approach. The kit I had came with simple instructions and some measurements to help you find the holes. Didn't really work for me though.

So, thanks again for the help. Looking forward to buying an umbrella!

Cheers.

The Jaguar Umbrella is rather disappointing quality:

Very bulky and a poor fit in their own umbrella straps compared with:

something from a specialist such as Swaine Adeney Brigg.

Men's 25" Bark Chestnut Handle Umbrella

That's a big league umbrella, thanks for the link. I originally wanted a Jag branded umbrella, but now thinking a really nice gentleman's rain piece would be another good way to go. Yours looks very nice. I'm a fan.

I heard of umbrellas once. They're used to keep the sun off you, right? hehehe

'Merican "Offical Jaguar Umbrella"

(Stores quite well on the take-out food hanger on the glovebox)

(Yes, I thought the strap in the trunk was for the gun)

Since it says Jaguar on it, I think it must be Whitworth!

If you look closely at the pic, you just might notice a spot 'o Guinness splashed on his 'bonnet'.

As far as thread size - if it's a 'Merican wearing it, it's SAE. 1/4-20 I bet.

But tip 'o the hat to the Queen and her subjects - I bet it's left-hand thread.
