Choose the correct viscosity and specification according to the owners manual. Brand name is meaningless.

Hi my handbook recommends Castrol magnatec A5 --5-30

But as been said it's the oil spec that counts. I am sure there are many other oils that comply.

Jaguar gets their factory fill lubricants from Castrol, so that's the reason for the recommendation. Look for the ACEA specification in your owner's manual, which is probably something like A3/B3 or C3. It'll be on Castrol's data sheet for Magnatec. You'll find product matches from Shell, Liqui-Moly and others.

Yes, it's purely a commercial relationship that benefits both Jag and Castrol. Nothing to do with the oil being 'better'.

Don't take any notice of the manual as it's misleading. You have a DPF so need low ash oil to spec M2C934-B.
I use Millers XF longlife C1 5w-30 in my 2.2D Auto with DPF. No issues with the DPF yet (touch wood).
