If I remember right, I have Castol GTX (5W-30) in the car with a Fram XtraGuard filter. But, I also known to use Havoline, Mobil 1, and Penzoil (all 5W-30). I tend to find what the local store is having on sale and go with that. Haven't noticed any difference between the brands and even tried a full synthetic and a blend. My mileage didn't shift between the different types. Others have had a different experience.

Mobil 1 (extended performance) 5w30 with Mobil 1 oil filter
I did try slick 50 with my oil change prior to this one with castrol GTX not sure i had any gains but she feels smother with the mobil 1 and i have gained 2MPG on my trip computer average before was 24 now getting 26 on the highway I reset on every gas fill up.

Amsoil 5w30 synthetic, Fram filter.
Oil that was in there came back from the lab as generic dino oil, 5w30, no obvious signs of engine wear. Seems likely, since the previous owner used a bulk shop to do the changes every 3K like clockwork.
I figure the Amsoil should give me a year (5k or so), but I'll send a lab sample out every 3 months or so to see what it does.

Currently Penzoil 5W-30 Synthetic. Next oil change soon will be either Amzoil 5W-30 OE synthetic or Castrol Syntec. Oil Changes at 10,000 kilometres (about 6,200 miles). No oil loss between changes. I thought Synthetic was recommended because of the long change intervals but I see many people using conventional oil? Any difference is fuel economy? I may run conventional in the summer and do a change again in October. Because I really need synthetic for our extremely cold winters. Then again a case of 6 synthetic bottles of Castrol is like $35 @ Costco which isn't bad for Canada.
