I read on a thread about the 2004 x type and some transmission problems. The member stated (I am not quoting) that the if the car was made after April 2004, Jaguar had ironed out a lot of problems and you could find the mfd date inside the drivers door jamb. I just bought, what I was told, a 2004 but on the door jamb it says mfd 10/03, does this mean my car is classified as a 2003?

Rossy, it's a 2004 model you own and it was manufactured in October of 2003.

Your 2004 Jaguar X-type was most likely purchased in the end of 2003 or early 2004.

Hi. I own a 2003 X-Type and haven't experienced any transmission issues. I have all of my fluids changed, looked at, etc. on a regular basis by a terrific Jaguar Mechanic. To be honest, after reading all of the posts on this site, I was hesitant to purchase any Jaguar X-Type. But, I have been very blessed wtih mine. Hope this helps others who migth find a very good condition 2002 or 2003 model. Thanks.
