Default Wheel Bearing Diagnose

Hi Guys,

It sounds like it is a wheel bearing time. I forget which side the problem is on, but when I turn hard to the left, the sound goes away. Loading and unloading. LEFT or RIGHT???

Merry Christmas

If you turn to the left, that should load up the right side of the car. If the sound gets quieter, than that sounds like a left side bearing.

Hmmmm, A hard left would make the left side of the body go down and the right side go up. Would it load the left side more?

Other way around, the body always rolls to the outside of the curve, and the inside lifts. So turning left, the weight shifts to the right side of the car.

The best thing to do it get each corner in the air and pull on the wheel to check for play.

In my experience, applying the brakes quiets a bad bearing. The caliper is attached inboard of the bearing and takes some of the pressure off. A bad bearing will also accelerate wear on the inside pad on a normal sliding caliper setup.
