the only issue i had was 2 of the bolts which hold the lower valance shield on had rusted solid so i had to grind off the heads with an angle grinder.
once you have access to the fogs it is the simplest job ever.
2 short torx screws on each, one thing to note.... the windshield washer fluid container is kinda in the way of one of the screws, this requires a little more effort.
i used a small pair of vice grips to hold the torx bit and was able to turn it very gradually.
each light has 2 locating holes/pegs so aligning them is simple.
electrical plugs physically engage both ways but only one way is correct.
i'll post pics in a couple days showing illumination comparison, (i took a couple pics the night before the install)

Default LED lights for a 2002 X-type

I looked at the products, but they only list these kits fitting 2004-2008 They only list bulb replacements for the 2002 X-type.
I want to replace the units with zero modifications, just ‘plug n play’. (My OEM fog light lens are rubbish from sand and rocks). TIA

i would risk it and return them if they dont fit.
according to ebay foglights... 2002 go through 2005 at least

while mine were plug n play, they also ship with this "adapter"?

its possible 2002 cars had different bulbs than later but that should not affect you here, go risk it, everything is returnable these days
*edit*
i just checked and this "adapter" fits my original 2006 foglight so i suspect these fogs will fit ALL x types
*editedit*
after comparing my 2006 jag fog to the ebay 2002 jag fog they are different and possibly will not fit
