Default Recommended Headlight restoration in Texas

Lads, I had my headlights a little cooked by the Miami and now Texas Sun (even when my car is 95% of the time in a closed garage).

My Jaguar mechanic recommend me a guy. I called him, came next day at the arranged time, and did a great job. Both headlights for 175.

I leave you some pictures of the before and after and his card.

Since you live where you do, a 10% headlight tint would look really good on your dark car. They are also a really good protector from chips and other damage AND most are an additional UV protection.
Just an idea, of course. 10% tint and if you want, get better lamps which are 25% MORE light.
Your lenses do look good shiny regardless.

Thanks Cee Jay! I normally don’t like to modify the car, at all (not even tinted windows). Do you have a picture of a car that tinted the headlights to see how it looks?

Astons now come with darker lenses from the factory. Also Audi (ack), Dodge, McLaren and so on.

Go to a good body shop and have them polish and clear coat the lenses.

He already did polish and coat them, that's what this thread is about.

I just dont think that stuff holds up well. Although adding Lamin-x to them is a good idea

Lights look great! Regarding this comment, I don't think I can handle another 10% reduction in light output!

Increase your output, then decrease it to 'normal'.

Best way bar none is to sand to 1500 then spray with 2k clear. The kits never worked anywhere near as well

No one has mentioned the easy and effective way of preventing the damage in the first place: regular application and buffing of a good carnauba (or other UV blocking) wax. I have used this procedure for years on several Jaguars…this works on the factory finish of the lamps AND on lamp lenses that have been “corrected”.
