18" is probaly the highest you can go(safely). There's a few around here that have gone bigger but with some issues. Do a search and you'll see...

18x7.5 w/40mm backspacing on stock (not sport)suspension. Perfect stance and no rubbing so far.

BTW, anybody know the backspacing of an O.E. Jag. 18x7.5" rim? Mine at 40mm are about as far outboard as they could get without rubbing.

I have 19x8 Armano Vega wheels w/ 215/35/19 tires, so no rubbing.I'm planning on putting some 225/35/19 tires soon; I think the wider tire will improve the handling. The 215's are too narrow. I also put hubcentric rings on; so the ride is pretty close to stock.

You have the stock ride height, most of us here had their ride lowered so 18's is the biggest we can go wiithout damaging something

Hey there Gotti15 is there any way you could take some more pics of the car with rims-ie closeups of rims and fenders and front and rear shot of the side for me? Also any way you could load some bigger ones or do you have a web album on-line somewhere?

I took some new pics over the weekend...finally had some sunny weather in No. Cali, so I was able to wash the X.

Really?I'll keep that in mind. I'll talk to my local tire shop (Big-O Tires) and see what they suggest. I think the 225's will fill out my wheel well & wheel width perfectly.

The rep at Tirerack.com suggested 225's, and told me that my current set-up 215/35/19 was incorrect for the X-Type due to the load rating of 85; but it was my understanding that the load rating of 85 has a max weight of 1135 per tire, so its suffcient for the approx. 3500lbs of the X-Type. Am I wrong?

ruslans rite about the 225, i have 18x8.5 with 225/40 /18, with the stock suspension it only rubs when u have people in the back and going over bumps of taking fast corners. As u are nt going to lower the cr, u shud be fine. I went and lowered it, and had the fenders shaved. It stil rubs ike crazy, so now i consider my car a 2 seater. no one sits in the back, and i take bumps at10 mph below the speed limit. Its worth it for the look though. Hope ures turn out well, and im sure the wider tire will look great, from the bck and the side, so isa win win sitution
