Default Wheels

Hey Gang, hope all is well. I found out last week that one of my wheels are cracked and bent. My daughter had popped two tires on the passenger side and I guess it took some time before it stopped holding air. I'm guessing eventually the same thing will occur with the other wheel, so I've decided to replace all four, and was looking for a recommendation. I've narrowed it down between the TSW's and the Coventry. Any thoughts? They look extremely similar. Welcome your feedback.

Thanks,

Wes

I meant to add locally all I can't find a replacement anywhere, but I did find a guy to fix the crack and straighten for $150, however it wouldn't include refurbishing the wheel, and if so it would end up looking better than the other three.

Looked on line at several sites and have seen them go from $125 to $1300+ a wheel. For my last 4 vehicles, all Subarus,I've used Tirerack. Decent prices, good selection and they ship them to you quickly.

Appreciate it. My problem always seems to be the ones I like are way more than I can spend at the moment, but those two brands TSW's and Coventry are close enough and the only ones I really like the look of. I bought another car and a 11,000 bed (yeah I Know) health issues, last week, so that's why I was specifically interested in those two.

Thanks for responding.

What kind of wheels are on there now? You can find stock wheels on E-Bay or by doing a search on refurbished OEM wheels. Unless you have something like an 18" Aruba wheel that is pretty hard (and expensive) to find chances are you could get a remanufactured OEM wheel(s) quite reasonably.

I've never heard anything bad about TSW or Coventry wheels, and Coventry makes jaguar specific wheels so fitment wont be an issue. If you want to get aftermarket wheels rather than replacing the stock wheels with new/refurbished ones either brand isn't a bad why to go.

^^ well look who updated their signature

Anyway, those are both good brands having owned TSWs before...my last set though was not painted and sealed very well for some reason, so when you get them check them over really good for any issues. My Niche wheels came to me flawless so I was satisfied. Got them off of wheelfire.com..cost me $1500 shipped with tires

Thanks again guys for the info..Justink201 like your wheels they look sweet! I found out today that TSW makes the Coventry wheels anyway. I was able to get pretty good price on the Coventry Whitley (gloss black mirror cut lip) for 176 each from discount tire here locally. I think that's what I'll end up with. Hope everyone is doing well, and thanks again.

Wes

P.S. bracester like those black wheels on the racing green..Nice

Thanks, I have 3 sets so far, I've been thinking about selling the ones in my sig pic. I thought about getting a set of Coventry wheels, or tsw, before I got the team dynamic wheels. I might still get a set one day. Be sure to post pics once you get them.

Your wheels would look so good on my car. And I'm just across the bay!

I'd love to get together someday and see your car in person and talk about what you've done with it.

Actually your on my side of the bay, I'm in St Pete haha. I wanted to go to that autocross this weekend but I might be going to Miami to look at an xk8 I'd be up for getting together to talk mods and whatnot. It would be cool to have them together to see how much lower I really am now haha.

And I work in north St. Pete.

If you don't go to Miami and have nothing else happening, drop by the autocross to spectate and watch my crappy driving I haven't been to an autoX in 2 years! I can introduce you to the usual suspects since I know at least 1/3 of the people registered.

The registrar (who is pretty much the face of the club) says that in all his years of autocrossing he doesn't remember anyone ever bringing out a Jag. I guess I'll be a first!

Let's take this discussion offline and see if we can find a mutually convenient time and place to meet up someday. I'm generally available on the weekends except Sunday mornings, although this weekend is a major exception to that. And most evenings after 6:30 or so.

Oh, and good luck with that XK8 hunt. Someday I'll go after one of those myself, unless I go after an XKR instead!

I like some of the TSW wheels. They are a little pricey for me but they make good wheels. I think the trick is finding something that looks elegant. There are a lot of racer-style rims out there that don't look so good on an x-type in my opinion. I've seen some coventry wheels but don't remember them much. Are they part of Jaguar? Anyways, if I were getting wheels I would probably upgrade to 18" wheels. On tirerack they have a tool where you can pick your car and see what they look like. It's pretty helpful. If you need any help deciding on a style we could help you out.
