When AC is on Limp mode begins
Hello every ne.
I have this problem with my 2002 jaguar x type here in Chicago.
Yesterday when i was driving down the expressway it was raining the backwindow was foggy.
I pressed the rear defrost button.
I was not aware the the air conditioner is used to defrost the back window.
I also know that the air conditioner is currently faulty and does not throw cold air in general or throws it slightly to one side of the front of the car.
So continuing on with the story the car suddenly went into limp mode and had to pull over and turn off the air conditioner and then wait 5 mintues turn on the car and to start driving like nothing ever happened.
So here it is:
When i turn on the air conditioner the car will go into limp mode even if it fully warmed up.
I did buy a new compressor and condensor and I plan to buy a new ac hose and get it installed anyway.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be?
Any help would be greatly appricated

The AC does not directly affect the rear glass. The dash button for the front and the button for the rear screens (if the car has these features), simply activate the heating lines in the glass front and rear. But indirectly, the AC dehumidifies the cabin air and thus clears fogging of the glass. The system is set up to automatically turn on both the glass filament lines and the AC.
The fact that your car goes into limp mode may be more related to the sudden electrical load than anything else (older batteries that perform “normally” can often fail under load). How old is the battery? Is it fully charged? It would be worthwhile to verify the battery condition before doing anything else

Hello SOV211,
The battery is 1 year old from autozone.
Seems to work fine. i get the gear box fault error and engine error fault error if it helps any?
There is some type of electrical problem 100% true.
Any other thoughts?

Still the question: is the battery fully charged? While the age of the battery does not ring alarm bells, the symptoms do. New batteries are almost never fully charged and often the pattern of use a car gets does not allow the battery ever reach full charge. 30 years ago, this was not a major problem. But modern cars (yes, including the X-Type) rely on full voltage from the battery to keep the electronic modules happy. When the voltage drops, all sorts of bad behaviour ensue…just as you are describing. The battery might not be the cause, but it should be ruled out before going further.
