More than likely you will wind up getting two new keys and then the dealer will reprogram the PATS to match the new keys.

Got a 2nd key from a local locksmith (with the keyless entry) for $250 programmed. Just make sure they have the machine to cut a jag key and that they have a good rep. Granted I live in the land of the largest automobile auction in the world so I have 5 or so qualified shops within a 10 minute drive but it shouldn't be too hard where your at.

Keep complaining and I'll tell you to go to the dealer and spend $500 or so. Oh and should you loose your one and only key, I'd say you'll be out a grand or so.

The dealer will get you on the parts for the key, that's for sure. Local DC Metro dealers overcharge (over MSRP) by at least 30%.

The remote is the expensive part, costs almost $200 from Jaguar (plus dealer markup).

Get the remote (C2C35283) from this guy on eBay (where I got mine) for $27. It must be new in original package so dealer can use the original attached barcode to program it.

JAGUAR KEY REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY FOB NEW IN BAG +FREE SH | eBay

Then order the blade (C2S31067) from same guy on eBay for $35 or from JPLV (~$40):

BRAND NEW UNCUT JAGUAR FLIP KEY SWITCHBLADE FOB KEYLESS ENTRY HEAD (NO REMOTE) | eBay

Cutting and programming by dealer cost me $200.

Is there no one but the dealer who can cut the blank key?

No, some locksmiths can make keys and program the transponders if you have one working key. They need both the key cutting machine for the Tibbe keys and a special computer that programs the car to accept the new transponder. They both are expensive so not too many locksmiths have them.

I got one done a few years ago for about $200.

Pete.

I bought this blank key and fob from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/KeylessOption...ype=automotive

Took key to local Jag dealer for key cutting and programming. Was charged about $170. Was in and out in one hour with appointment.

When I first got my 06 18 months ago I bought 2 fobs with uncut keys on eBay. My mechanic cut the keys and programmed the new keys to match the one I had. Now I have 3 complete working key sets. Don't really remember what he charged me because he did it with a whole list of things I had for him to do.

I am in San Diego. It's gonna take you about 100 bucks if you can find a good locksmith. dont go to the dealership.

Definitely don't go to the dealership! Same goes for all my fellow jag enthusiasts in the UK. I lost my keys a couple of weeks ago and went down to locksmiths harrow and they had loads of spare fobs for different manufacturers. Had it programmed there and then. Local dealership wanted to charge me a couple of hundred quid too! Hope this helps.

Yup - dealers should be the LAST resort for most things

I got my fob from Amazon for about £20 and took it to a locksmith in Aylesbury and got the blank cut and security coded for £55 - a bit less than a couple of hundred quid - even something like a radio code will cost you £50
