where to plug in OBD 2 scanner
I know this is probably a dumb question, but I can't figure out where to plug in my OBD2 scanner to pull codes for my '03 X-type. I have 3 other cars and it is pretty obvious on them, but I am at a loss on the Jag.............. ?
The only dumb questions are the ones not asked.
The OBD port is under the dash by the US driver's left foot. There's a small storage bin low in the dash by the driver's left shin, just big enough for a pair of sun glasses. Pull the bin out of the dash and look thru the now open hole for the OBD port.
Here's a few links with pictures:
For LHD cars, it's by the driver's left foot:
And for RHD cars, it's by the driver's right foot:

Never mind ......... I really am a dummy! I was looking too far up in there. You don't even need to take out that little storage box. It's right up there by the hood release. I guess I didn't see it because it's pointing downward. On my other cars it's pointing straight out at you. Thanks for your help though.
No problem. The industry norm seems to place the ODB port under the driver's side of the dash, usually beneath the steering column or towards the driver's front door hinge. At least that's been my experience on multiple makes & models.
