Well, what killed me was the "take it away and lets see if the fault develops!"
I mean preventative maintenance doesn't seem to mean anything to these guys.......I don't want the fault to DEVELOP you assh*le!!
Anyways, I still got around 9 months warranty left on the car so I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.
At around £100 or so a time for a diagnostic check and loan car for one day, its a lot of money to throw away if they still can't find it.

Hey Jim,

I have a noise coming when the transmission is engaged. When the car is at park, you just hear the normal engine noise. However, when i put the car in D and start pushing the gas, i start hearing a noise that is not a whining noise, but more like a rambling as if something is loose. What ya think?

Hey Dunhill,
not sure buddy. Can you be any more specific, it all sounds a little too vague to have much of an idea.
I'm still stuck on my whining noise although it is intermittent and only for a very short while, still, it shouldn't be there in the first place.
You enjoyin the car (apart from the quirks) and the forum Dunhill?

Just curious, but those with the whining noise, do you all have the washer covers on the front next to your lights?? Are they loose?

I had my passenger side off for a few weeks to get it replaced and painted and I noticed a whining noise. It was mostly when it was cold...Maybe cuz the air is thicker, and the air as I gained speed was funneling into that small space...Just curious!![:-]

Jim,

I guess it is more of a rattle coming once the tranny is engaged. It is intermittent. The shifting in Sports mode is better. Shifts at a higher RPM compared to when it is not in sports mode. So far I am enjoying the ride. Handles great in the snow. The car has new Dunlop Sport A2 plustires, which are making some road noise. How can this be fixed? Any idea?

The forum is cool, but kind of slow. Wish more would visit daily and post.

I have warranty until end of June, so i will have Jag fix the minor annoyances, but I definetely want them to look at the noise. I am most concerned with tranny/driveshaft.

Overall, the car looks great. I will tint the windows, and try to find 18 inch rims/tires, maybe aroound summer time.

Do you use/add any additives into the gas tank to increase performance? Also in the tranny?

When the temp is around or below zero mine sounds like a damn tornado siren going off inside the car till it warms up.
my dad's 03 2.5 auto has this same noise. i rode with him the other day and thought a bomb was going to go off when it happened. scared the hell out of me - i actually braced back into my seat. it is going into the dealer on thursday to be checked out. he also has the vibration over 50mph.

on my 03 2.5 manual i had what sounded like a small jet engine noise from the front passenger area, but no where near as loud as the noise you and my dad have. i took it in for repair and they replaced the rear drive shaft for god know what reason, but it didn't solve my problem. the second time in they replaced the prop shaft on the front passenger side and the noise went away.

Mine sounds like a rattle, but not sure where it is coming from exactly. All I know is i hear it when the car is in drive. I will take to dealer.

Also, how loud is the engine supposed to be around 70 mph? RPMs are 2.6 or so, but engine sounds kind of loud. Is this normal?

I just got some cheap Jensen 6 1/2's. On sale cost me $70 for two pair!! So I just put some 100hz bass blockers to make'em last. Another $10 for those.

I presume it is better than the stock speakers. I like Pioneers, if I can find some.
