Jim,
I guess it is more of a rattle coming once the tranny is engaged. It is intermittent. The shifting in Sports mode is better. Shifts at a higher RPM compared to when it is not in sports mode. So far I am enjoying the ride. Handles great in the snow. The car has new Dunlop Sport A2 plustires, which are making some road noise. How can this be fixed? Any idea?
The forum is cool, but kind of slow. Wish more would visit daily and post.
I have warranty until end of June, so i will have Jag fix the minor annoyances, but I definetely want them to look at the noise. I am most concerned with tranny/driveshaft.
Overall, the car looks great. I will tint the windows, and try to find 18 inch rims/tires, maybe aroound summer time.
Do you use/add any additives into the gas tank to increase performance? Also in the tranny?
Hey Dunhill, re the road noise from the Dunlops! Its a personal thing buy I'm not keen on them anyway, had a bad experience with them a few years ago. I'm running the Pirelli PZero's and they're fine, but its all down to individual choice.
Window tints cool, would love to do it myself, maybe later.
As for the additives in the tank, no, although I've used Duralube in the past and it worked a treat in the fuel and transmission. I used it on the wife's Ford Escort and it really seemed to give it that little bit more oomph.
What about Superunleaded (99ron) type fuel instead of std Unleaded?
I've switched to Super and wow, what a difference. The car just seems so much more responsive overall

Jim,

I use the highest octane here in the States, which is 93....I was using 91 at one point. I think it does help with performance.

Oh for sure Dunhill. The Duralube I was telling you about is an American product, similar to slick 50 but much better in my opinion. Check it out. I noticed a marked improvement when I used it.

I will check it out for sure over this weekend. I don't mind spending some money to help with smooth running engine.

Its not that expensive, probably cost me all of £40 ish.
They did a test against slick 50 and a load of others and it came out way on top......does a really good lube job. The fuel additive lubes ffrom the valves inwards and the oil additive works from the other end, really loosens things up nicely.

Jim,

Just to clarify, you used the duralube for the tranny, oil tank and the gas tank?

Yes mate. They supply three different products, one specifically for each application. I swear it made a difference.
Check out their website for your own peace of mind though.

if you have a sunoco anywhere near you they sell 94 octane (99 in the UK). only costs a few pennies more than 92-93 as well. some may say it's overkill, but i didn't buy a jag to scrimp on everything else.

Thanks Amishboy,
I'll take it under advisement. Although the dealer says " lets wait and see if the fault develops further!"[sm=wtf.gif]
