Default Windshield Replacement - SafeLite???

A small stone chipped my windshield on Monday. My car insurance covers a SafeLite repair for free. As the repair man was working on the chip, the crack spread, requiring a windshield replacement ($250 deductible).

Does anyone have experience with SafeLite? Is their work going to leak? Will they scratch my paint during install?

I hate when other people touch my car.

Thanks,
Ryan

I have used them a couple times in the past. I had no problems with their install for years. It is going on about 8 years since the change on my trailblazer's windshield. I also think the person doing it may be the variable that is unpredictable. I also had a windshield changed once that resulted in gouges to the edge of my rearview mirror. I am not sure who the shop brought in to do that one though.

I have also used Safelite and was very happy with the work and glass. I would say to let them know you are picky and ask that they have their most experienced tech replace the windshield for you. This is what I did and was very pleased with the outcome.

I used them too on my X-Type, my insurance company (USAA) contracts them to do all glass repairs. The first tech came to my office and determined that they couldn't fix it, even though it was a small chip, and said he wanted to replace the windshield. I didn't care since I have full glass coverage. They came the next day and got it done. I have been very impressed with the results, and there was no damage to my vehicle during the procedure. So in my opinion, they can be overly cautious but are a very good company to deal with.

I had Safety Lite replace mine about three months ago, and my granddaughters Cherokee last year and they went the extra mile.I had called an independent before and they jacked me around for a week so I canceled them and called Safety Lite, They were my insurance companies preference so we both were happy.
