Default Windshield Wiper Issue

So my wipers are goofy. When I click them in any position, they continually wipe at full blast. When I click them off the stop dead in their tracks wherever they are on the windshield, sometimes in the middle of the windshield.

This started happening as i pushed down on a wiper arm to have it sit lower. It made a strange clunk and they haven't worked right since.

Is there any way to reprogram these things to function properly w/o taking it to the dealer? I've pulled the battery, reset any code in the computer (non-related, but tried it).

Sounds like you broke the park switch in the motor. Mine used to do the same thing. I bought a used motor and voila! It was fixed. I found mine for pretty cheap on eBay. Had it replaced in 5 minutes after it arrived. Easy job.

Do I have to buy the whole wiper motor or just this sensor? I'm guessing this is located under the cowl plastic?

The park switch is located inside the wiper motor. Its not something that you would easily be able to replace. Your best option is to replace the whole motor. They are cheap at a salvage yard. Like I said, I got mine on ebay.

Its super easy to replace, especially if you get one with all of the internal arms and such (not the wiper arms on the windsheild). All you have to do is remove the wipers and cowling to get to it. There only a few bolts, a plug and its out.

The trick to the first step of popping off the wiper arms, is to remove the bolt and frimly press down on the arm a few inches from the bolt. I did auto glass for years, and we would give them a quick push (don't hit it too hard) and they pop right off. Dont bother trying to pry them up.

Once you get in there, you will see that its pretty straight forward.

Ok so stupidly I bought one without internal arms and now I'm having an issue where they want to wipe down before going up the windshield. How do I properly align this?
