Ok my Xtype friends, wondering if any of you have had a similar problem or solution. I have a 02 Xtype and when I use my wipers they come on with only one speed, there is no more intermittent feature. also at times the wipers will stop mid wipe and I either have to push the stick one notch higher or pull the stick toward me. Any solutions or people that may have had the same issue in the past? I am thinking I need a new switch that attaches to the steering column but want to verify before I buy.

Daniel, I would first check fuse F93 (30 amp fuse) in the engine bay fuse box. If that is starting to go, it can cause what you are seeing. But, if that is looking good (probably worthwhile to swap it with another fuse of the same rating and see if your problem clears), then that would point back to your wiper stalk having an issue. If the problem clears when you change the fuse around, then odds are you have a fuse that is going to blow very shortly and is making intermittent contact right now. May want to also make sure that the fuse fits in snuggly, not a little sloppy. I have seen loose fuses cause something like this too.
