Wipers don't park for a few seconds
04 xtype sedan.
I have an issue where my wipers don't park immediately after they finish the wipe - they will go for 4-5 seconds and stop wherever. If I do a manual wipe (pull the wiper stick towards you and hold it) and release it, it will stop immediately wherever it is on the window.
Intermittent doesn't work properly - it acts like slow speed wipe - hinting that something is not sensing the wiper returning to park position.
I have heard that it can be an issue with the stop point in the motor - but I have also heard it can be electrical. Does the x-type have a separate motor and park relay? Can I do some quick tests with a test-light? Is there a simple test I can do to test if it's just the park ring inside the motor?
Where are the fuses and relay positions in the car that power and control the wiper motor? Is there a wiring diagram for the wiper circuit?
Thanks!

I have the exact same issue. Parks all over the place randomly, then, if I click it on and immediately off, it runs for another 10 seconds. Same on our 2006 taurus...I'd take the motor electrical connection off, sand it smooth and retry, but, can't get the dang wiper blade housing off the bolt...I've already tried a whole new wiper unit on the steering column and that made no diff, so, either the elect. conn is bad, or, its not grounding etc...
