Hi,

I have had my 2 litre 2002 X-type for about a week and I'm delighted with the handling and appearance of my new car. The only snag I can see/hear is a whine that develops as the car warms up. It sounds just fine when first started, then it develops a whine that is related to the speed of the engine. I'm guessing it's probably steering pump, alternator, belt tensioner or what have you, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could throw in a few pointers as to what to check out first.

Is it like this? After I replaced nearly every rotating piece of the driveline mine turned out to be the idler pulley.
