Default Won't Start

My wife started the car this morning and it ran slow idle for about 5 or 8 seconds and then it stalled. Now it wont start, I checked all the fuses and their ok but I want to know if there is a fuel pump relay I should be looking for, or maybe something else. Thank You

I just poured a little gas into the intake manifold and the car started and shut off a couple seconds later. I believe this is a fuel flow problem and leads me to think it's the fuel pump gone bad. In the past the car would surge while driving it and I had to slowly apply the gas to get it up to speed. Any ideas.

Before going to the time and expense of a fuel pump, take a look at the fuel filter.

I would change out the fuel filter first. Then if that don't work then check the fuel pressure off the rail. If it is low then I would tend to believe its the fuel pump that has gone bad. Let me know I have 3 pumps. Pm me and I will give you a good price.

Good luck ,
The Dr!

I just changed the fuel filter last month. I don't see any valve on the fuel rail to check the pressure. Thanks Everyone

Default fuel rail valve

The fuel rail valve is on the top, passengers side of the intake. Follow the chrome line from the injectors out about 4 inches from the intake you will see a black cap before the line bends down to the fire wall. If you go to auto zone you can get a tester for free.

Good luck,
The Dr!

1arrowdown: Below are pictures of the fuel rail port for testing the pressure. To locate it, remove the plastic cover over the intake manifold and look from the oil fill cap towards the firewall about a foot. There you should find the test port in the fuel rail. It's next to one of the three brackets that hold the plastic cover over the intake manifold.

O'Reilly's or Autozone will lend you a fuel pressure tester for free. Be sure the kit has multiple fittings, or better yet, bring with you the protective cap to the test port to ensure the kit has an adapter with the same id and thread size.

FYI, the pressure in my fuel was a steady ~48 psi with the engine at ~2,500 RPM, and dropped momentarily to ~44 psi when I took my foot off the gas, then it quickly bounced back to ~48 psi at idle.

Good luck.
