I bought dash kits for my rides . ( Not for X Type because I don't own one)
Quality : Very satisfying .You can find real wood or synthetic .OEM Match but make sure you order the right one
I did install those kits by myself and I am not an idiot lol
The cost was around $200 as I recall
I really like the interior trim after install but everyone may not be wood trim fan as I am lol
I can give you a reliable site
www.wooddashexperts.com

You should also see an online chat about your questions
Hope this helps

I know they have sets that offer the standard factory match wood, but what about the wood for the VDP or Luxury package models?

Looks like matching the factory wood grain isn't going to be so easy after all. Check the reviews on the X-Type dash kit shown on this page:

http://www.carid.com/2004-jaguar-x-t...ood-53481.html

(That's the site that the supplied link for "wooddashexperts.com" resolves to.)

I'll quote from the two X-Type comments only:

This order is not completed yet. The supplier sent a completely wrong colored veneer two weeks ago and I have been dealing with customer services for instructions to return the merchandise and obtain the correct item from the supplier. I'm waiting for a reply or resolution
The product looks nice but is the wrong wood tone for 2006 Jaguar X-Type. I verified factory information with a representative and was assured this was correct. I had to return product. Nice product but doesn't come close to matching factory wood tone.
Until somebody comes up with the exact wood description/name/color-code to order (as listed by the dash kit manufacturer), I'd say don't bother.

I don't know what type of kit I have on my car or if it was a factory upgrade, but the vents, radio, back ash tray, rear cup holders and alot of other places have matching woodgrain were a normal x type doesn.t

you have to be sure you order the right color. don't just order "factory match" or "OEM". See what kind of wood it is. Sapele is hard to match. I think Sherwood is the only one that makes it.

Agreed that you have to order the right color, the problem is in identifying which is *the right color.* The carid.com web site that I referenced above lists 5 different colors for my 2004 X-Type:

(AD) Glossy Silver $162
(R) Rosewood OEM Wood $184.15
(FI180) Caramel Sapele OEM Wood $242.85
(BL173) Walnut Burl OEM Wood $259.15
(N173) Burl Walnut OEM Wood $288.00

I have no idea what the OEM wood color is in my car. Does anyone know where to find a color code for the car's interior?

Default Wood Trim Kit for X-Type

I finally found a great match for the hard to find Sapele wood trim interior for my 2004 Jaguar X-Type. If anyone is interested you can contact Fred MacArthur at AMAC Parts 1-877-291-2771 or fred47@gmail.com It came out GREAT!

Kapmaddog - they list a few different manufacturers, each with different colors, on their web site. Any idea which one you bought? Can you dig up your invoice and find a brand and model number, or at least the reseller's part number?

If you contact Fred at the phone number or by e-mail he will be able to help you, since he dealt directly with the supplier and knows the details for the Sapelle Wood Kit.
