Default Workshop Manual Installation Instructions

HOW TO CORRECTLY DOWLOAD THE JTIS APPLICATION ON VISTA

Firstly go to C-Net Downloads and download (Win Rar) I say this because I used Win Rar and it worked great for me. These instructions are based on Win Rar.
Once (Win Rar) is installed on your computer, print this instruction off so you can follow them whilst downloading and installing this application. Then go to step one.
1/ Double click on the direct download link below. There are also other links for this file elsewhere on the site.
http://redirectingat.com/?id=42X198&url=http%3A//www.cannell.co.uk/Jaguar_Workshop_Manuals/JCD-1.zip
A box should appear asking you to OPEN or SAVE the download, Click SAVE. If the box does not appear, look at your bottom task bar. It maybe there, its box will come up as 0% of JCD-1 zip. If it’s there, click on it and the OPEN or SAVE box will then appear, Click on SAVE. If this does not work, copy the whole link, and then open your internet browser. In the very top search bar will be the name of your home page, (http) Delete this name then right click and paste your link here. Next, click on the arrow at the end of that search bar. Your browser will find the download and the OPEN or SAVE box will now appear. Click on SAVE. A box appears asking you to name the folder, just click SAVE
2/ The download will now begin and the compressed downloaded RAR file called J-CD1 will be placed in your personal downloads folder. (About 20 minute download time). A compressed Win Rar file looks like 4 red books stacked on top of each other. At the end of the download a box appears asking do you wish to OPEN or CLOSE the program. Click on CLOSE, and then close the internet.
3/ Now from your desktop screen go to your personal downloads folder. You can find this by clicking on the start menu icon, (that’s the bottom left circle with 4 flags inside it). Then at the top right of this box, Double Click on your name and all your personal folders will appear showing, Documents, Pictures, Music, Downloads, etc. . Double Click on Downloads and your downloads folder will open.
NOTICE: Check the size of the downloaded J-CD1 Rar file, if it’s 470,270KB I know it works. Sometimes the download is cut short and it’s not as large as this. If this happens, delete the downloaded file and start again
4/ Once you find the J-CD1 Rar file. (4 Red Books Stacked On Top Of Each Other) Right click on this file then click on extract here. All the extracted files will be placed here in Downloads in a standard yellow folder with the same name J-CD1. This may take a while.
5/ Now double click on the yellow J-CD1 folder to open it. Then find (SETUP- Application -60KB). Right Click on this file and a list will appear. Click on (Run as an Administrator). In the next box that appears click on Allow. A box will now appear asking you to remove old data and install new. Click OK. A box now appears about Acrobat Reader, Click OK. The first part of the application will now install.
Once finished a box appears telling you the download is complete. Click OK. You are now asked do you wish to restart, Click FINNISH and your computer will restart.
6/ once your computer has restarted, go again to your Downloads folder. Again find and then Double Click on the yellow J-CD1 folder to open it. Then Double Click on dao35, then Double Click on CD1. Now find (Setup –Application- 47KB). Right click on this file and from the list that appears, click on (Run as an Administrator). In the next box that appears, Click Allow. The next box to appear is the setup box, Click Next. (NOW READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER).
IMPORTANT: The next box to appear is the components box which has two selections in it, Jet and ODCB Direct. Both have tick boxes to the left of them. Click in the tick box named ODBC Direct and remove the tick from its box. Now select next. The next box is for optional components. You can leave them all ticked. Click Next. The dao35 application will now install. Wait a while for the installation to complete. A box will appear telling you the installation are complete. Click OK. Now return back to your desktop screen.
7/ a black box ladled JTIS should now be on your desktop. If not, Click on the start icon again, then click All Programs at the bottom of the box, then scroll down the list and find the yellow JTIS folder. Click on this folder to open it, and then Right Click on the black JTIS box. A list will appear, select (SEND TO the DESKTOP). Go back to your Desktop where you should now find the JTIS Application shortcut.

ALMOST DONE

8/ Now from your desktop, Double Click on the JTIS shortcut and the application should now open. However On some computers, the help folder inside the application is not useable. This is because a file for Vista is missing. This file needs to be downloaded before the help utility can be used.
WINDOWS HELP FILE: (6.0-KB917607-x86.msu)
So with the application open, click on help at the top of the first page. If this won’t open, Windows own help folder will appear on the right. Follow Windows help instructions and look for then download WINDOWS HELP FILE 6.0-KB917607-x86.msu. The whole program including the help files should now be working.
This is what I did it and I assure you it works. ON VISTA

GOOD LUCK

Default Jtis

I have the JTIS that goes up to 2004.5, I could zip it and upload... Does this forum have the size to accommodate this upload? Or name another site and I'll upload it there.
Cheers

Hi canman. just try it. im sure the members would be greatfull as they seam to of had trouble downloading and instaling JTIS up to now, hence my posting these instuctions which ive tested around 20 times so i know they work. I am sure a more up to date download would get a lot of hits.
Cheers!

I have Windows XP Pro 64-bit, and it installs fine until I go to the dao35 > Disk1 > Setup.exe

It tells me "The image file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\J-CD1\dao35\DISK1\SETUP.EXE is valid, but is for a machine other than the current machine"

Is it not for 64-Bit machines?

Is this the owners or workshop manual? The server boots me after between 170 and 200MB download.

I'm trying to get it to work on my Mac. I 'd 'win rar mac' and got a few hits for instructions but I have been too busy to sit down and try it. Let me know if you have any luck and if I manage to make it happen I'll let you know.

Default JTIS Install for x64 (64 bit) Windows OS's

Its taking the long way around the barn to do this, but, as I see it, this is the only way, short of buying an x86 PC just for JTIS.

Download and install Virtual PC 2007 SP1 from Microsoft.com/Downloads.

Install XP (x86) on the Virtual PC virtual hard drive.

JTIS (and DAO 3.5) will then install properly on the XP Virtual PC, and run fine.

You'll have to start Virtual PC to use JTIS from within it.

No, there are a few of them.
I got JTIS and BEST off ebay.
I think they both are terrible, but I work with whats available.
