Default Would bumper off stop car starting?

Hi all, new owner and member here - and desperate for help!

I've just bought an 02 2.5 with a damaged wing and bonnet. Thinking how clever I was at getting replacement panels from breakers in the same paint code, a couple of the family gang came over today to give me a hand to 'Simply unbolt the parts, and bolt the others on' - wish I had never bothered.

Time ran out fast and I've had to leave the front bumper off untill my next day off, (next week),but now the car won't start.
It's clicking, but not turning. I can't take it out of park, it beeps in anger at me.
Trouble is, it's out on the road, and blocking my drive, so I'm desperate to get this moved. With no bumper, it looks a sorry state, and it's normally such a great looking car.
I think this has to be immobiliser based, and have done a search here, but all seem to be key based problems.
This car has never had a problem like this. I bought it from a work colleague who has decided to give up driving through ill health, so I know the history.
I can't believe i've had it less than a week, and buggered it up!
It did go up on axle stands, but the alarm never went off, so I don't think it's an inclination immobilser thing.

Would leaving the bumper off stop this from starting?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I still have a headlight off too if that makes a difference (waiting for replacement).

If it has been sitting a while it might be something as simple as the battery. The X Types are very finicky if the battery output is low.

Thanks for the reply Alfadude, but this car was started on a regular basis, and was finw when I brought her home a couple of days ago. I will try a jump start though, just in case.

Thanks again.

Actually, a good call Alfadude
It's been stupidly cold here today, and with the bonnet off for most of it, I guess it knocked the battery for six.
Just put the jump leads across and it started first time.

My paranoia was telling me I had really screwed up the security side of things, and it was the same problem I had on my Hillman Hunter 30 Years ago!
That'll teach me to overlook the easy fix.

Thanks again

Probably a good idea to get a new battery soon. It is not unusual for a battery to go with no warning. When mine went it was the middle of summer and was starting just fine. Parked in the garage one night and the next morning, nothing.
