Default Owners manual selection

I would like help in selecting the correct original owners manuals and folios for my 1998 XJR. I have determined that there are two sets, one that goes in the glove compartment and one that goes in the elastic holder in the trunk.

Can anyone tell me which manuals go where, and what type of folio holds each set. I'd like to know the correct color and design of the folios if possible. A picture would be wonderful if you are so inclined. I've found numerous sets and folios on eBay, but if I knew what came from the factory I could find the pieces I need as either a set or individually.

There are code numbers or part numbers on the back cover of some of the owners manual booklets. Are these relevant and what do they mean?

I realize this is probably trivial to many, but to me it helps complete the car. Any detailed advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Every Jag I have had has everything in a leather or plastic pouch in the glove compartment.

The Green folder goes in the shelf above the glovebox, it contains :- Drivers Handbook JJM 10 02 12/80, a Quick Guide JJM 10 20 12/80, Safety Advice JJM 10 79 99/80, Drivers Handbook Supplement JTP 596 and a credit card sized Security System Guide JTP 526.

The Black folder goes in the elastic strap on the right hand side of the boot (trunk)
it contains :- Service Record & Warranty JJM 10 10 99/70, Vehicle Care JJM 10 16 12/80, In Car Telephone JJM 10 1 99/80, Sales and Service International Directory JJM 10 70 99/80, Maintenance Schedules JJM 10 23 99/80, Total Care JJM 10 29 99/70, Sound System JJM 10 21 12/80, Security System JJM 10 22 12/80, and an envelope that says " Security Radio Code Information" on the front, and " vehicle identification no." on the rear, with a cream colour folder with 2 credit card sized cards with the radio code and radio serial number on, and a A4 sized piece of paper
with :- Jag Body Number, CSO Number, V.I.N, and 12 bar codes that cover Body, V.I.N Prefix, VETS, Chassis Number, PECUS, V.I.N, Wheel Alignment Setting, Headlamp Setting, Rolling Road Facility, V.I.N Stamping Facility and the VCATS, that is VS 12.

At least, that is what my 98 XJR came with. Hope this is of some help.

That is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Any interest in snapping a picture of the folder covers and insides? It's important to me to get the correct ones if possible. Thanks again.

The green and black wallet photos came through. Was there a third set?

Interestingly enough, my first XJ8, traded in 05, had just the green leather folder with everything in it (car was for the Canadian market); this one, originally an executive lease, has just the black plastic with everything in it. I guess the original owner/leasee must have snatched the leather one.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post pictures. I appreciate it very much.

On a related note, do you leave the trunk documents in the trunk, or are you concerned about them getting damaged from temperature and humidity changes? On other vehicles I've had, I don't recall there ever being a packet that goes in the trunk, just the glove box. I suppose the temps are variable in the glove box too, but somehow it seems more indoorsy than the trunk...

Never had any trouble with them being left in the trunk, but then again, I live in South London, and am not too sure how the climate where you are compares.

I also put mine in a large Plastic Ziplock bag, so it didn't get Damaged or wet from something in the Trunk
