I need help trying to diagnose the problem with my x type 2.2d, recently it was starting to stutter at about 1500-2000 rpm, which meant pulling away from a standstill was hard unless using losts of revs.

it recently on a short run seemed to be overheating as the needle was rather high and i checked the other day and it has plenty of coolant.

I attempted to do some reasearch myself and though it might be the camshaft position sensor so i got a replacement part from ford (as the ford part is cheaper but still the same) but after doing this i fired up the engine and it idled for about 3 seconds then started to die so i turned the engine off to try and avoid any damage.

any ideas of what it could be would be very usefull
