OK, this is an old question!!! My wife just bought a 2005 X-type (awsome car) and she wants to use her ipod, Where can i get an ACM for it?

I have acm's in both my 05 X (no touch screen) and 06 S (w/touch screen) and though a bit pricey, they work great. Be sure you get the most recent version as there are device compatibility issues with some older versions (which have different part numbers).

 

Honestly, the best route would be to simply install a double din headunit. It is relatively easy, and a better price to bang comparison for your buck.

 

I agree with the bang for your buck, but I have yet to see a double-din install that really looks "natural" with the interior.

But, for the price of an ACM, you can buy a double din that has Bluetooth, aux input, USB input and nav.

Need to find the right double din to pull off a clean look.

 

Don't worry about an older ACM. There is firmware that can fix all problems with old kits.
I bought an older kit, secondhand! I installed the firmware and it works flawlessly.
The link for the firmware are all over this site, but if you can't find it I'll fig it out and post a link.
Believe me, the sound quality with the Jag ACM is outstanding.

 

Depending on the older version, the updates are NOT always just firmware. There is also a cable connector change to enable charging the battery on newer devices.
