Default X-Type air intake popping and misfires

Good day Ladys and Gents.

I have a 2007 Jaguar X type 2.1, a beautiful wee run about!
Just after Christmas it started jerking when I planted my foot on the old girls accelerator, as well as hesitating and vibrating with gears up hills (the engine warning light also flashes) and when I rocked up home there was air popping back out the intake (a loud, phut phut......phut phut phut....phut.ect)!!!

The diagnostic tool said cylinder 3 was missing, so I went and nabbed three second hand ignition coils from another X type - then the problem moved to cylinder 2. I have changed the spark plugs (all 6) as well as fiddled with the coils and replaced the MAF but to no avail!
There are no obvious valve or seal leaks and now after playing with it cylinder 2, 3 and 5 are missing.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I've been browsing high and low for a month for online answers.

Ta.

Default Edit: fixed

After having a play around with the coils once more, I discovered one of the coil heads had cracked, creating arching and sparks. Replaced and it and she ran just fine!

Mine ended up being the timing chain. Hope that isn't your case,
