Question x type diesel engine swap,dont start

hi, my 2.0 diesel died at 187000km,(timingchain jumped) so I bought second hand engine (90000km)and fitted it inside,EGR valve and turbo were different so I fitted my old ones, wiring loom I took from my engine and fitted on the new engine, did the bleeding like hell, but still wont start, tried with my old injectors,,, same result, cranks but wont start, only my engine light stays on during the cranking,,, don't know when this should go off, probably when engine is started, is it possible that because of getting strange signals from camsensor and crank sensor(when the old engine died)that ECM does not give out the signals to pump or injectors now? guess I should buy a reader, but not sure ,guess I can only read the problems , does anybody is familiar around these problems,- resetting? I any advice could send me in the correct direction , regards johan

I'll start by saying I know nothing about diesels. That said, typical places to start are electric, spark, and fuel. Sounds like you're getting electric if it is cranking. I don't really know how ignition works in a diesel, but in a gas car pull a plug then turn down the light and look for a spark. Finally check to see if is there fuel pumping to the injectors. One of these is failing and will narrow down your issue. Code reader is also a great investment and the kind of thing that you can use over and over.

fast update,got a friend over who has got his own garage, with the original bosch obd reader, we got up to 23 faults,,, resetted, then we got so far we could see all kind of things on fuel pressure, from 0.6 Mpa to 40MPa tried to clean sensor, so now we got all the time 200 MPa so tomorrow off to buy new sensor,,, and then try again,,, cant believe this giving so mutch trouble to get started,,, the smaller the engine the more headache, anyhow, will let you know on the progress,or the staling of the project :-)

Using 5w30 or 5w40 will not make a difference for a cold start as they are both 5w. The w stands for winter or the viscosity during a cold start. You could try 0w30 or 0w40 and it could help. Always use full synthetic, as other oils the additives the add to give a lower cold viscosity will break down and potentially cause damage.
