Strange rattle inside my 98 XJ8
I recently had my transmission replaced and my secondary tensioners replaced as well. When I drove the car away from my indie mechanics garage, everything seemed great. Had a tune up too, and the car was running great! After about 15 miles of driving, the serpentine belt slipped off.
I had it towed back to the shop where they checked the belt and put it back on. Seems they didn't completely push the center pulley all the way back in. Well, it is running great, but now I have a slight "rattle" that I can hear when stopped with air and radio off. It's an annoying, low volume rattle so I thought maybe the tensioner upgrade was making noise. I had read in a thread that this could be the case. Alas, they are not the issue as we listened to everything under the hood and underneath the car with a mechanics stethoscope.
It's really irritating, although it doesn't seem to be effecting the performance.
Any ideas out there?
Many thanks in advance!!
