Default low brake message

Back again, I have a 1989 XJ6, it has a low brake pressure message on, the brakes seem fine and work. I did just changed the low brake pressure value under the car on the right side, it was leaking oil out of it, so I replaced it and filled the green box with oil. but I had to connect the wires from the value with butt connecters, because I couldn't remove the wire spades from inside the blue connecter. could the wires be the problem or is it something else. any ideas, Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

Can you please clarify which part you replaced in the diagram below? Was it the combined low pressure/warning switch, Part 2? If so, then yes, the wiring could be the problem, since the switch is responsible for telling the pump to run and also for illuminating the warning lamp on the dash.

You've used the term "value" several times. Do you mean "valve"? Maybe your spell correction is overactive?

Any clarification you can provide with help us help you.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don, Ill check the wiring today. My bad on the spelling, I meant valve. Can I just hard wire these valves and due away with the butt connecters ?

Default low brake pressure message

1989 Jag XJ6 had a problem with one of the valves on my ride leveling module which is under the car on the right side leaking the mighty green oil, so I replaced the low pressure valve, but had a problem when I tried to remove the wire spades out of the big blue connecter, so needless to say, I messed up the wire spades, so I used butt connecters on the wires from the valves to connect the system, filled my reservoir back up with oil and started the car, i still have the low brake pressure message, do you think it could be the butt connecters, should i hard wire the wires or do you think i have another problem. any ideas, hope i can get this fixed, the Jags only got 25,000 miles on it. does anyone have a wiring diagram of the ride leveling module... Thanks Mike

Mike,

I have merged both of your threads on the low brake pressure warning into one thread.

The butt connectors could very well be suspect. Are you certain you got all the wires reconnected on the right terminals in the pressure switch?

Don
