The left side strap snapped on mine, not a big deal it is seventeen years old. What surprised me is the price for new ones as I am going to replace both.
The left hand side is in the region of £30.00, while its pal on the right is £130.00 to replace, looking at the parts drawings they look similar, so does anybody have any reason why this is.

I could sure offer an educated guess. With the X type utilizing a "saddle bag" gas tank, the straps are indeed different from side to side (LH - RH). As for the price difference, well that's not uncommon for any part, any car.

 

Finally got round to buying these, and they are pretty similar in size and shape, main difference is £100.00 for some reason.
Anyway job done and stop moaning.
