Default Purpose of elastic straps in right wall of boot '08 XJ8 VDP?

What is the purpose of the two black elastic straps located on the right-hand wall of the luggage compartment of my '08 XJ8 VDP? I've checked the owner's handbook to no avail.

I don't know what they are there for either, but I use one to hold the fuses, since the clips broke and it doesn't stay where it should, and I use the other to hold a couple dvds for the rear seat multimedia

Mine has an elastic strap (bummer, only one) and it holds my tire pressure gauge and a lint brush (must look good for the ladies you know)

I use it for a small tool box and the front license plate.

My XJR, when I bought it new, had the Nav Disc in there.
My current XJR has a small First aid Kit in there.
Seems like they are very usefull for all sorts of things.

Found this thread searching for "license plates" to find out size of screws. The trunk expandable straps on side quarter panel are for accessories: first aid kit and warning triangle.

Mine has a bag (jag branded) that contains the handbooks and a first aid kit (also jag branded)

My guess is Jag expect you to hurt yourself in an XJR!!!
I must confess though
I used the bandages for a fibreglass project (lifesize version of bender from futurama as my mailbox)

Cheers

Must be excellent wine holders as there is not a hint of red spotting on carpeting! ;-)

My 2003 has the First Aid kit on one, and used to have a small plastic bag containing an oil top up kit, (pair of gloves, and 1/3 litre of the correct oil).
