You shouldn't have to, have you checked for vacuum leaks? I think there is an adjustment around the MAF but you should never need to touch it since it's set at the factory. I would check into more what could cause it to drop. My vote is vacuum leak. At the brake booster is one of the most common. Search this forum for vacuum leak and it will fill up 10 pages. There is another thread that I told the guy to search dennisblack for a picture of the most common areas of leaks.

Digger, with the engine cold, the idle should be around 1000-1200 with the car in park. In drive, you should see it around 700-800 RPM. Then as the car warms up, you will see it drop to around 700 RPM in park and 600 with the car in Drive.

As for adjusting the idle RPM, got a really fancy computer with the OBD writing software on it? The idle is not adjustable unless you get in and adjust the programming of the ECU. If your idle is low, then you may find that your throttlebody has some gum built up on it (but this is normally shown by an erratic idle, not a low idle) or you have a vacuum leak.
