Default X Type Jaguar Stop Light possible fault

Hi all, I have a 2003 X Type saloon 2.0D and when I push the clutch pedal right down the stop lights come on, has any one had this happen and is it supposed to happen if not can anyone throw some light as to why ????????

Haven't heard of that, but sounds like a good safety feature.

Joseph, odds are, if you look under the dash near where the clutch pedal is (above the clutch pedal), odds are, you are going to find that either the linkage or other moving part of the clutch is coming in contact with a wire bundle and it just happens to be cutting on your brake lights. Should be a fairly easy fix. The trick will be finding the wire bundle. Getting your head under the dash can be a bit tricky. The easiest way I have found is to lay the seat all the way back and sit in the seat upside down (ie, head in the footwell, feet by the roof).
