X type passenger door
I've just changed the front passenger door on my X (old one got damaged too much) and it doesn't respond to the remote or the key (in other words, it don't lock/unlock) but it does lock/unlock from the inside (and locks all the other doors when you use the handle).Does anyone have any ideas-is it some sort of solenoid or something?
PS....this is my first post!

did you check the FAQ's ? I know there's on in there about removing the door panels. I haven't read it, but there might be some help there.
If not, holler back and we'll see what we can come up with.

Thanks guys-I've still got the old door-would the module be where thelong metal wire (which eventually attatches to the door opener) goes to the left of the door as you look at it? I think its called the actuator?

I didn;t realize you replaced the entire DOOR!
Sorry for giving you the "go check the FAQ's" answer.

well, I changed the actuator-still nothing (in fact I think I made it worse as it used to open and close from the inside-and the problem was that it wouldn't lock and unlock via the key fob or the drivers door-now it doesn't do anything!...aghh!!!)
i forgot on xtypes the module for the doors is the body proccessor under dash pass. side. but the actuator still may not have worked on the new door hense no lock feature since the motors go out. as far as not opening from the inside put the cable in the other notch. or make sure you didnt inadvertantly leave it unhooked either the actuator or the inner handle on the door panel. after you fix this, reboot the module by disc battery negative terminal and briefly touch it to the still connected positive to discharge caps. and this will default all modules and might get the body module working the door lock again, or you may have another issue..

When you said diconnect the negative at the battery-then very briefly touch it on the still connected positive terminal-won't this blow something-least of all-won't it damage the battery and possbly the ecu as well??
