X-Type Premium Audio 'Reprogramming'
New to this forum; but not to forums in general. Thanks in advance for any help!
I have a 2002 X-Type, love the car; but the CD Changer got intermittent on us essentially when we
bought the car (used, in '05). I finally got tired of it and checked things out, and found that the fiber-optic
link/harness had a defective clip on one end and wasn't making a reliable connection. Long story short,
I got a replacement from Jaguar - now I get a 'No Disk' message for all 6 slots, then a 'CDC No Disk'
message after the search. One dealer who responded suggested that 'the car needs to be reprogrammed'
to recognize the changer.
Is this 'reprogramming' something I can do without special tools/equipment? I'm handy, an engineer,
and a passible mechanic (with 7 motorcycles).
Thanks!

RE: X-Type Premium Audio 'Reprogramming'
Hmmm... different magazine gave the same results. Yes, the car came to us with
the CD Changer, and it has worked most of the time. I confirmed with a bit of dis-
assembly that the connector on one end of the fiber-optic cable was broken (the
catch clip wasn't working).
A new changer? Unfortunately, the only option there is to get another one of these
Alpine/Jaguar units - for an outrageous price. Geez.
