Default X Type R and delimiting speed limiter

Was talking to the Jag technician when he was servicing my car.Apparantly there were 8 supercharged V8 X Types made but they were scrapped due Jaguar deciding they didnt want an entry level Jag beating the top of the range jags performancewise.
Also delimiting. Some have questioned if it is possible to delimit the US speed limiter.Answer is yes.It is downloaded in the form of a VID block (I think he said)which is a matrix of numbers dozens of columns by dozens of rows. The technician who is clever with software (only one able to program in my cruise upgrade out of all the dealers I tried last year) says there are that many thousands of numbers it is virtually impossible for him to find the right number to change to get ridof the speed limiter. He was thinking laterally when he said next time he goes to a Jag course to try and get one of the people who know how to change this pi**ed so they tell him how to do it.The other option he could do is try getting a US ECU, resetting it, then ringing Jag UK to tell them it has a restricted speed and how does he correct this?
So good news it can be done...bad news its a pain to find out how.
When I got my exhaust today I noticed the company selling speed delimiters for Jap cars...wonder if they would work with Jags? Here is a website for it in the US:-

note to yourself that taking off the speed limiter voids your warranty automatically

Aquill...........your statement above.......weird but true ( in my opinion anyway)
I've had the X at around the 130 mark and it felt too fast for the car and somehow unstable? Can't really describe it any other way.
I've had the Saab showing 152 on the speedo though and woulda gave it more if there was more to give as she seemed better able to handle it. I just didn't feel safe / secure in the X at those sorta speeds though - strange!

To me the car isn't designed for much faster than that. You want to do 160-170 go get a crotchrocket or a freakin' corvette, ferrari, viper you get the picture. I just can't say that much faster than 130 is safe!

Well I was tinkering with my dad's mustang and I ordered a tuner to get ridda the 121 limiter, but then he got pissed as hell when I got it in the mail because it would void are warranty.

I would never be eager to void a jaguar warranty because that is basically a necesity. Maybe it's different on teh x types because they are a little more common and I think manufactured with all ford motor parts in the us, but my dads xk8 parts are hard to get by so we need that warranty, lol. Jaguar's aren't known too well for reliability and warrantys are always helpful, lol.

My X at 121mph felt smooth and like it could go a lot faster. I was goin 121 or 124 is what it looked like on the speedo for about a good 10 miles and i felt like i was goin 80. I dont recommend it though, cos i cud see the gas/petrol needle moving pretty fast haha.

HAHA about the way the gas needle moves at those speeds! I've taken the car to 120 MPH, and it felt stable and secure! Not as much as my 240sx, but the car felt like I could take it a whole lot faster. I reached the speed limiter in 4th gear at about 5.5k rpms, so I had another whole thousand rpms on 4th and then all of 5th gear!

I felt good at 12? but I rationally wouldn't want to take my x any faster than 13?!

As I said before guys, and its just my opinion. I dont think the Jag X is designed to be a racing car, well, not thru n thru anyways...........more like a cruiser, with those sexy curves and twin tail pipes at the rear....wow.
You go race it and I think you'll just get egg on your face mostly.

I dont get whats up with a limiter that hits in 4th gear, kinda makes it pointless to have a 5th gear with rmps that shud be able to go higher. I guess its just a safety issue.

The 5th gear is necessary for better gas mileage!

Amen.

Screw milage man.
X types have manual overdrive right? How does yours look.

My dad's xk8 i was driving high speed today, and I never got it up too fast over 70 but it has a 2,3,4 and then u can move it to the other side for auto. So is the D also overdrive, cuz that's how it works in my 93. I didnt get it fast enough to go to overdrive tho, lol

We pay about $3.50 for a gallon here for Ultimate! Makes for about .74 euros for a liter! A fat 25 cents different! I care about gas mileage because unfortunately I don't **** money, nor am I always racing the car. I do feel that the limiter is bull **** though!
