X-type radio start delay

X-type radio start delay
Hi,
My radio will only go if the key is on start until it turns the radio on and then start the car.
If the key is turned directly to run then the radio doesn't start.
There is a wire not connected, a white one, is this the problem?
Car is a 2 litre petrol v6 2004
