does anybody know the name for the clips that fasten the sills

I think what you are looking for are "rocker retainer clips" below is the parts info from Jagbits a forum sponsor>

what do they look like the rocker retainer clips
wot i meant was the clips that hold the outer sill on to the bottom of the car

The outer sills are correctly called "rockers" the clips are a push rivet like the ones shown in the other answer. Jagbits and SNG Barratt both have them in their catalog.
