Default This X Type with snow tires is like a TANK in the snow!!!

Glad I got it, high today was 5 degrees. Car is parked outside so was very cold, shifting the automatic into gear you can tell when it was below zero....there was a little push on the gear knob. Thing worked great. Heater is nice, traction was nice....really glad I have this for a winter car. The snow does cake up pretty bad on the fenders though which is expected. Still has the original battery...that scares me though...DOH!!!!!

Also, was below zero for a week with snow and heavy ice. Car is running fine on the original battery.

Nice! Hope you get through everything winter throws at you! You might want to consider getting a new battery as a preventative measure. Nowadays they can go without any warning and it always seems like when stuff like that happens it is at an inconvenient time. I know when mine went it was the middle of summer. Starting and cracking perfectly fine and then one morning-nothing. No one likes to spend money needlessly, but batteries are not that expensive, especially when you have a 7 year old battery in the car. Cheap insurance for the peace of mind. Just my two cents. Hope yours lasts another 7 years.

Yep, looking at getting a generic battery when I can. I will do some research for the part numbers. I am sure Autozone has something that will fit.

My wagon handled great in the snow and ice yesterday. This is my first winter with it, and I sure am impressed with it's capability.

The only downside is that I can't clown around with the e-brake on the back roads and parking lots. The AWD and traction control over-rule most of the ability to put it into a spin. That isn't a bad thing, I'm too old to be doing that anyway.

But the storm we just had was great for testing the handling characteristics on ice. My snow tires are half-worn down too - if they had full tread remaining it would probably grip much better. I have owned three different type of 4WD pickup trucks (Jeep, Chevy, GMC) as well as driven many other 4WD vehicles over the last 30 years and this wagon will provide confidence better then any of them did at road speed.

So I agree, these x-types are tanks in the snow.

I've recently purchased a new to me x-type. Very good in the winter snow and ice. However if you think its a tank you should try a range rover pre 03 before they used wide tires those were awesome. My wifes first comment this first snow. Wow this is no rover.
