Default X-type Sovereign Diesel 2.0L

I have just bought this car which has 120k miles on the clock . The diesel engine makes a tick/skipping noise coming from belt side of engine approximately every 30 seconds on idle. Previous owner said engine re-mapped because of worn injectors. Car drives well but continues to to tick when idle. Also runs a little uneven when cold.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as we wish to keep the car tip top condition.
