Default X-Type speaker replacement

The stereo on my 2003 X-Type (plain stereo, no navigation) started to sound really crappy with the stations full of noise. I tried a cd and the sound was equally bad.
I assumed the head unit went bad but since I had already planned to install an Android unit I was not too worried.
I have now installed the new head unit and the sound is equally bad. I though that maybe the antenna was bad and connected an external antenna directly to the head unit with no luck. Sounds like the speakers are the culprit.
I want to replace all 4 speakers since they all seem to have gone bad and I would like to know what speakers others have used that are simple to replace. I am looking at some that are not too expensive since I primarily listen to talk radio.
Is there a difference between from and rear speakers or can I use the same speaker for all 4 doors? I understand they are 6.5", 4 ohm speakers.
Crutchfiled has a number of speakers for under $40 a pair, the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1525X2 looks like a nice speaker. It is 5.5" two way and Crutchfeld includes the adapter ring and connector adapter.

Also, SonicElectronix has a nice pair of Sony 6.5" 3 way for about the same price that are supposed to fit the X-Type.

I would like to hear which speakers have you all used that are a fairly straight swap with the factory ones; I don't mind drilling a few holes if needed. EBay has original Jaguar speakers but they go for well over $60 per used pair and I don't believe they are worth even half that. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
