Default X Type squeaking for a moment on warm start up...

Hi all, I've recently bought an X Type - 2.0D Sport (2005, 120,000 miles) - and after a few days I noticed that when starting the engine while warm, there is a loud (from the outside) squeak from under the bonnet that lasts all the while the key is turned fully forward. On a few occasions it has failed to start on the first attempt. I've now noticed that being naughty and giving it a small amount of gas on start up gets it going first time. A friend of mine said it could be the EGR but I'm not so sure. Another said that it could be a legacy problem from someone filling with the wrong fuel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

It could be a belt that when warm expands enough to slip and squeal a little on start up. Check your belts, cheap and easy procedure.
