Default X Type Wheel Size

My question is in regards to wheels. Can someone tell me what is the maximum size that will fit a 2002 Jaguar X Type? I was thinking about buying some wheels somewhere in the 18-19" range, but wasn't sure what would fit in terms of height-top to bottom-and width-side to side. Thanks in advance, I appreciate all your help.

You wont find many answers here, I have done some research and have yet to find an aggressive wheel setup on an xtype. The cars just are NOT wheel friendly, the most aggressive combo would be like what the Bonspeed SEMA car did, but I have read that they modified the suspension to fit them. There are also some decent wheel sizes on cardomain xtypes, but wheel choices are a whole different story. You best bet would be to go visit a tuner shop and have them test fit some wheels with different offsets, but good luck with that because our bolt patterns are far from common.

Thanks for the responses guys. What I am looking to do is purchase some factory OEM Jaguar rims. My fiances father owns a plating shop-chrome, gold silver, whatever-and he said they could simply chrome plate some rims; I think it'd be a little cheaper this way as well, plus, I like the looks of the Jag wheel caps, so I'm looking to stay Jaguar. That said, I'm looking to find some Jaguar rims-I like some of the XK and XK8-but I don't know if they will fit my X Type. I appreciate your feedback.

Oh, in that case there are tons of jag wheels that will fit, just have to find one that you like. Personally I came across a jag set of wheels that were called "Performance" from the factory, since they all have those type of names, but I cant find it anywhere.

I'm think our offset is 5/108 and the xk i 5/120 so I dont think they will fit.I had the same question a while ago,it's hard to put sock's on a cat huh?.In the off chance you do get the xk's to fit somehow let me know there is some 18 inch on La Wheel i would love to buy $328.00 each not bad for chromed OEM,maybe take a look there ,and dont forget some volvo wheels and european ford wheels will fit just gotta hunt for em

jmault, some members have played with their cars and like was mentioned, the biggest that fits without any modification is the 235's on 19" rims. Some members have run a really low profile 235 tire on 20's, but that has been hit and miss with rubbing issues. I'm sure with some fenderwell work, you can fit 20's in there with no issues. But, what you need to massage where, can't tell you. It would be one of those things you would need to get the tires on, get the car up on jack stands and start playing with the tires and seeing where they hit and then what is behind there that can be moved out of the way. Personally sounds like a lot of work for not a lot of return. Not to mention that your ride is going to suffer for the super low profile tires. I don't know how your roads are but I have lived in some places that I was glad I was running 315/75R16's (gotta love 10" of sidewall rubber) on my truck.

Odds are, if you are looking at other Jaguar rims, most of them are going to be in the 19/20" range. So, do some careful looking and think long and hard. How much work are you willing to put into a project like this. Keep in mind that you will also be limited to an 8" wide rim. Going any wider will almost garantee rubbing in places that to make room is going to involve tons of sheetmetal work (read as very expensive).

Firstly, thanks for all of you responses, they have been extremely helpful. In the last response, Thermo, you said something in regards to an "8 inch wide rim." I have found many Jaguar rims that I like, but thought the reason they might not fit is because of how wide they are. I was kind of under the impression that anything greater than 7.5 would be took big to fit the X Type. Would I be safe finding a 18", or maybe even a 19", as long as the width of the wheel isn't more than 8", or is this completely off base and I'm neglecting some details. I kind of came to this conclusion myself because generally the height and width are the two dimensions they specify...

I have 18x8 +33 on 225/40 18 tires. Lowered on H&R springs and rolled fenders to get rid of rubbing. Now that fenders are rolled I have a TON of space. Once I get my coilovers Ill definitely be upping the anty to 19x8.5/19x9.5.

Just remember to do your research before you buy wheels so you dont end up disappointed.

Thanks. I think that will be very helpful. I negligently overlooked the bolt patterns. In looking for wheels, I only paid attention to HxW dimension, even though the bolt patterns is something I should have considered first, since with Jaguar they are so unique. I suppose I thought the bolt patterns would be the same with all Jaguar cars. Thanks for pointing that out, though!

jmault, keep in mind that the width of the rim is merely 1 aspect of many that need to be considered when attempting to run different size tires. As you go wider, you will need to go with a lower profile tire to give you the clearance you need.

The best advice that I can tell you is to play with your car a little bit and what I have done in the past is used pieces of wood taped to the tire. You figure out the size of your current tire, the size of the new tire and you tape pieces of wood at say the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. Then you can support the front end of the car via a jack stand and rotate the tire to see how close you are coming to the fender. That will give you an idea of what will and will not work.
