X Type won't start
Battery died during the week and got the AA to kick start it for me. All was fine car started up so i drove it down to the petrol statio nand put some deisel in it (double checked the receipt to make sure). went to start the car and the battery was dead. Called the AA against and he tried the following:
Test bettery failed
Jump start failed (not sure if i did it right)
Battery reset
Checked for earth ok
checked key programming - ok
conclusion - battery flat, not cranking, possible starter motor.
I haven't got a clue whats up but the guy at the garage said he needs to get some fault codes checked. Any ideas guys
thanks Jignesh

there are 4 positions of the key, all that give different steps toward starting.
position 0 - car is completly off
position 1 - radio should work
position 2 - dash lights come on, HVAC runs, glow plug light come on for a few secs
position 3 - starter should crank the engine over, and then start. engine idles.
what if any of this is happening?
I dont see what kicking the car would do to help ?

Batteries completely flat now but radio came on same with headlights, dash lights come on, glow light came on when i tried to kick start it but starter would not crank and no noise at all.
Does it turn over and just not catch? - doesn't turn over at all
Does it turn over and crank but not start
Do you smell fuel - no

Still not sure what kicking is all about? last thing I kick started was a motorcycle.
now, when the booster cable ( jumper cables ) are hooked up, does everything work perfectly? what happens when you turn to crank position? does it make any noise?
manual transmission? have you tried to push it in neutral with the key on, then bump start it?

I'm going to assume that it won't jump when you hook jumper cables to another car, correct?
That means no power getting to the starter, check your cables, they are always suspect. Check your fuses (likely not the problem though), but my bet is a loose terminal on your starter
