Default xtype top struts

Hello,

I would like to know if the xtype top struts are the same as the mondeo mk3. Its easy to find the bearing for the xtype, but the bearing with the silentblock its other thing.

Some months ago i purchased the top strut (silentblock + bearing) of the mondeo and i have mounted to my xtype without a problem. now i have to change the other side and i noticed the xtype silentblock have different height in the inside, its thicker on the outside and shorter on the inside. The one i have for the mondeo has some light difference, like 1 mm, but the original has a lot more. Maybe its because its used i dont know.... anyone knows about this?

Thanks!

I recently replaced both front struts/bearings and damper mounting.
I looked in to the mondeo parts, but decided to get genuine jag parts instead.
I was told that top bearing and damper have to be from either mondeo or x type, but not a mix of each.
Also the bearing mountings have to be installed correctly, the genuine jag ones have paint dot marks to install for correct orientation.

Whilst the mondeo dampers will fit, the mk3 mondeo saloon uses single tube type, whilst the x type uses twin tube type, this gives different ride qualities.
Also the ST mondeo version may have twin tube type, so I have been advised.

Paul.
